Summer in Montreal

Montreal offers an attractive package of both mountains and river – a combination which we don’t find often. Montreal, as it’s named after Mont-Royal gets dissected by the river St. Lawrence, and altogether, brings out an uncommon touch to the city. It’s an extremely well connected city with a planned bus and metro network. Being the largest niche for the post secondary student population in North America followed by Boston, Montreal is cheap. Another factor gives out a certain kind of comfort level to any new comer to the city that is Montrealers are usually pretty cooperative by nature. The biggest advantage of staying in Montreal comes with the unconditional safety, you can walk back home even after a midnight party without any fear of “being mugged” unlike many places in the US!
With my growing intimacy, I discovered that it won’t be an exaggeration to call Montreal “the city of festivals”. Mostly, I find the summer intoxicating with the streets filled with music and laughter. The renowned International Jazz festival, shows like just for laugh”, keeps tourists from all over the world on their toes. While you can clearly sense the European influence in the architectures near Old Port, high-rises on the Rue St. Catharine catch your breath with flavor of the bustling city. Because of its multicultural ambience, Montreal can surely be termed as a “foodies’ paradise”.
Montreal reflects an enormous spirit through its yearly fireworks competition and it’s not a very good idea to miss it. To get the taste of ethnic Montreal, one has to explore every nook and corner of Plateau MontRoyal, little Italy and Chinatown. Beaming with liveliness, Montreal is the place for legendary opera, symphony and ballet shows.

Coming from the “City of joy”, I have always been critically critical about liking another place. In spite of not having any jaw dropping, breath taking features, I don’t mind saying, Montreal has taken my heart away.
